Family Roots Nursery and Garden Center was founded in 2024 by Jake, Jake, and Not Jake.

Jake

Jake Hammell left his career corporate America to dedicate more time to his family. He spent his childhood on a farm and this work brings him back to his roots.
Jake believes that community is not a spectator sport. He is always there to lend a hand on projects.
He, his wife, and three kids live in Auburn but we forgive them.

Not Jake

Not Jake (Lindsay Tan) earned her degree in Forestry from Auburn University and has lived in Opelika since 2011. She believes in building community resilience through outreach and education about the plants growing right in your own backyard.
She and her husband have one acre, two kids, two dogs, a backyard flock, and a bunch of plants.

Jake

Jake Dachauer is a retired Air National Guard veteran who moved with his family to Opelika in 2022. His passion for homegrown produce and his love of community led him to found Family Roots with Jake and Lindsay in 2024.
He is a proud husband, father of two kids, and an unapologetic Bills fan.
